December Home Sales In Chicago Slightly Better Than Originally Thought

A few days ago I reported on Chicago home sales for the month of December along with contract activity and distressed property sales. I just found out that the data source that I use to gather that data had a bug in it that has since been corrected. This bug only affected the sales count for the month and my conclusion that sales were basically flat from last year. In reality it now looks like sales were up between 5 – 6%, which is really not that much better than flat. So I’ll modify my descriptor from “flat” to “up slightly”.
It will be interesting to see if this error has any impact on the upcoming sales release from the Illinois Association of Realtors.
