After 10 months on and off the market the Winnetka home at 671 Lincoln, made famous in the movie Home Alone, finally sold. Originally listed in May 2011 at $2.4 MM the price was subsequently reduced to $2.175 MM and then to $1.95 MM in August 2011. The home was then withdrawn from the market on November 21. Apparently they continued to market the home outside the MLS because the listing went live, contingent, and closed all in the same day yesterday. I’m sure it went into the MLS only so the agent could get credit for the sale for that all important Top Producer claim.
The ultimate sale price represents a pretty big discount off of the official list price but when a home is stigmatized by burglaries from the likes of Joe Pesci (Did you see that guy in Casino? Pretty scary character.) The home was originally purchased by the Abendshiens for $875,000 in January 1989. The new owners are anonymous for the time being.
