Burr Ridge: Giant Homes, Lots Of Unique Style

The homes in Burr Ridge, Illinois never cease to amaze me. As long as you are willing to spend above $1.5 MM you can get 10,000+ square feet and there are plenty of surprises out there – homes with lots of personal taste that you could never imagine.

For instance, just this last Sunday I saw this contemporary home in the Falling Water development at 9525 Pacific Ct which is listed by Jorie Peirce with ERA and is supposedly scheduled to be featured on Channel 5 this Sunday at 10:30. Built in 2000 and currently listed at $2.175 MM, it boasts 10,198 square feet, which includes an entirely separate in-law residence. The home was originally listed for $2.495 MM 147 days ago and has had 2 price reductions. Here are some other statistics:

  • 5 bedrooms – 3 on the main level and 2 in the walkout basement
  • 3 kitchens – the listing only shows 2 but I think that’s an MLS limitation
  • 4 full baths and 2 half baths
  • 5 car garage
  • Granite and marble floors
  • Anigre and Downsview cabinetry
  • Roman columns, venetian plaster walls, and 10 – 12 ft. ceilings

Check out the photo gallery below. One interesting side note on the zebra skin covered steps – the owners’ dogs wouldn’t step on the zebra skin (out of respect?) so their paws wore out the finish to the sides of the zebra skin.

There is an abundance of animal prints or skin throughout the house and unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the ostrich feather fringed drapes in the main living area. Obviously, this is fairly personal taste and won’t appeal to every buyer that walks in. However, if you imagine the furnishings and drapery (lots of heavy drapes throughout) removed the home would definitely have broader appeal.
