Located centrally just 20 miles west of Chicago and with easy access to Interstates 88, 290, and 294, and home to some of the world’s most recognized brands such as McDonald’s, Oak Brook is one of Chicago’s most desirable suburbs. With just under 10,000 residents, Oak Brook is home to many C-level professionals in addition to hockey players, mobsters, and physicians. It is known for its large lots and for having the lowest property taxes in the county. Residents pay no municipal taxes, so purchasing a $1mm home in Oak Brook would come with a tax bill of around $9,700 in annual property taxes versus Hinsdale where the annual property taxes would be around $14,700 assuming the assessor placed a $1mm market value on the property. Oak Brook is home to Oak Brook Mall that gets nearly 100k in visitors, EVERY DAY.
Oak Brook was incorporated into a Village in 1958 and today there are around 3,200 households in Oak Brook. Today’s buyers who want a gated community have several to choose from with top-notch amenities such as tennis courts and swimming pools. Although Oak Brook does not have a typical community feel due to its collection of disconnected subdivisions, there is a strong sense of community within each of the various subdivisions. Each Oak Brook neighborhood is its own community with an active homeowners’ association and community events.
